The Richard B. Dunne, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund (formerly "The New North Kingstown High School Scholarship Fund") was formed in 2001 to celebrate the opening of the new North Kingstown High School building. The fund was renamed in 2008 to honor Richard Dunne, a longtime teacher at the high school who was instrumental in creating and fundraising for the scholarship. Dunne died unexpectedly in August 2007.

Since its establishment, the fund has distributed 69 scholarships valued at nearly $70,000 to members of the NKHS graduating class. Richard always believed that education comes in all shapes and sizes.  Keeping with this vision, we award $1,000 scholarships to students attending 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges and vocational/technical schools.

Our annual photo contest is the primary fundraising event for the scholarships.
P
rivate contributions and auto donations are also gratefully accepted.
